"2gether"
9"x12"
Mixed media on stretched canvas
$50

Ta-da!  A new painting!  A post!  I've been hard at work on two other, larger pieces, and I've been busy writing as well, so that's the reason for the lack of posts here.

This piece is headed in an interesting direction, but it's just a germ of an idea right now.   "Daily Painters" wanted a Valentine's Day themed piece for tomorrow and so, that's what I've done.

I love it and think it would be a wonderful gift for Valentines Day. Not that I have anyone to give it to, mind you...but I see how being surprised with that gorgeous piece would be a treat for anyone on the receiving end.

This is driving me nuts - what are the rectangles done with... Paint? Gesso? Something else? It's got some gorgeous colour in it.

Cath! So glad you stopped by again. The rectangles are done with some clear gel first, then I let that dry. I paint some brow color, let it dry, then scrape the bone color over it with a palette knife, let it dry, and finish by painting some of the outlines with burnt umber paint. Thanks for the kind words, Cath. How are things in NZ.

Aaah, the process makes sense Jeff. Thanks for that.
It is HOT at the moment, although maybe not what you'd call hot? It's 80.6 here today, which is considered very hot in my part of NZ.
Yesterday was Waitangi Day, when we celebrate the singing of the Treaty of Waitangi (170 years ago approx) - a document which set out how NZ would be governed between colonisers and the existing Maori people. It's mainly a happy, bicultural day of celebration. BIG day in our local park, 5000 people came to hear bands, buy great food, dance in the sun, talk about what it means to truly share our nation. Nice.
