"Corrosion"
40" x 60"
Mixed media on stretched canvas

I finally finished a large piece!  It didn't take a very long time, either, all things considered.  I've done a lot with the screen and two different types of gauze.  I really enjoy working with the gauze.  I've begun a second large piece and hope to have it finished in time for the show in a few weeks.  In that piece, I'm trying out some jute.  We'll see what we get.

I really like the texture of this one. I want to reach out and touch it. Your work is simply fascinating ! I always think I like clean lines in a painting (like my Santa Fe Eggplants) but then I look at what you've created and I get the itch to do something textural.

Thank you, Paula. Scratch that itch!

I'd love to see this irl - it has so much texture. Will be very interested to see how the jute turns out.

Ah yes,,,,love that old rusty effect!
Really great, the blue/gray with it. Do you prefer the screening or the gauze,,,,or just like each for it's own properties?
Another fine piece Jeff!

Hey Babs. Glad you like the "rusty bits". I actually thought of you a few times while I was painting it.

As far as which I prefer between the screen and the gauze, they're so different. I usually put the screen under the gauze. It's a layering affect that I like. They're so different, and I use them in different areas. I'm incorporating jute in my current piece, and I'm still getting used to working with it. It's so absorbent.

So you sometimes combine the two,,,that's very interesting! I may have to give that a shot one of these days.

I loved the fact that the gauze is so pliant,,,enjoyed pushing it here & there,,,getting the effects.
Anxiously awaiting your jute project!
